We have lots of different types of tea cosy patterns in the archives from all eras- from Victorian high teas cosies, to more modern 1960s ones.
One of the more popular motifs for our tea cosys is the bee and the beehive- luckily we have managed to source both a knitted one and a crocheted one form the 1930s and 1940s. We think they tend to be popular because the bee is a very popular motif itself- there are lots of types of items and designs featuring bees as they are cute little insects. They also look good on the table because of the link with honey at tea and breakfast times, and then finally the beehive is just a perfect domed shape to fit over a tea pot!
Both of these cosys are very easy to make, and make lovely gifts and items to sell. They also both feature tiny wee bees to pop onto the cosy- the beauty of this is that you could make lots more of the bees and have swarms of them over the cosy- or make then as cute little pins, brooches or hair decorations.......
As always the link to buy the patterns for instant download pdfs is at the bottom of the page
This is the 1940s crochet beehive tea cosy pattern
This is the 1930s bee hive knitting pattern - again with tiny wee bees and also some sweet yarn flowers too.
If you wish to use tiny pieces of odds and ends of yarns, the bees and flowers are perfect.......
