This is such a pretty gossamer lace circular heirloom baby christening shawl
It uses 2 ply yarn and is actually much less complicated to make than it looks. It also only uses 2 needles which is very unusual, but also very useful for those who may be a little nervous of circular knitting. I for example am left handed, and have one needle underneath my arm when knitting to make sure that I keep the tension even- when I try with circular needles then there is not that support and so the tension can go a little awry if not careful.....
Try making it in cashmere or silk as well as fine wools for a very luxurious heirloom- its so lacy and soft and pretty pretty that no proud parents would be able to resist it!
This is such a lovely item that could also make a great throw for beds or furniture- if you make it in 4 ply or even DK then it will makeup very large and so cover quite a big area
The pattern can be found on the Vintage Visage website by clicking here- enjoy, and have fun with this lovely pattern- and make some very pretty shawls....check out the other shawl patterns too as we have both knitted and crocheted baby shawl patterns dating back to the victorian era.
