The 1960s was a wonderful time for fashion- the swinging 60s had really taken off in London and British designers such as Mary Quant bought the mini skirt into vogue. The mod scene took fashion to its heart- many top pop stars wore mod suits and the girls wore stylish mod fashions- and it wasn't long before the yarn companies bought out knitting and crochet leaflets to enable everyone to make fab mod fashions at home
These patterns that Vintage Visage have sourced below are just a few of the 1960s fashions that we have on the website and in our ebay shop for you to make. Do you recognise the first model? yes- its Twiggy (we do have pictures of other celebrities who modelled knitting and crochet patterns- including James Bond- so please check back for more posts on that soon)- and doesn't she look so good in that fab suit? we have made the jacket on its own too and it looks great today with modern fashions and even jeans too.
As always with our posts- the link to these wonderful vintage patterns if you wish to purchase and make them is at the end of the photos- but you may just want to enjoy looking at these great dresses-feel free to pinterest them too!
We love this suit- it would fit in with todays looks as well as being a great outfit for mod and 1960s re-enactments
This is a great and easy to make 1960s mod shift dress- only use 1 stitch plus the pretty edgings..
One for big sister and a matching one for little sister- or could it even be a young mum?- little girls loved to look like thier big sisters then- it was very common for sisters to have matching dresses (whether they liked it or not!)
We love this- its kind of a mod version of the hippy granny square look that came in vogue in the late 1960s too- if the skirt was longer and the fringes longer too- add a floppy hat and its very hippyish. But as it is, short and fun then again its very mod in style. if you made it in red , white and blue then it could be very patriotic and union jack like as well!
Find the Twiggy pattern and the others too here on ebay here now to buy, and on the website soon
