Knit a tiny Vintage Santa to decorate the christmas tree

This is such as cute tiny little Santa which you can knit as a little character or as a Christmas tree decoration.

This Santa, or father Christmas as he was more popularly called in the wartime 1940s in the UK when he was originally published, measures 4 and three quarter inches- perfect for the tree!  he was originally made in a fine 3 ply yarn, and so if you wished for a larger Santa then you could make him in 4 ply or DK and he will be a little bigger.....

We guess if you are clever and inventive that just by changing the colour of his clothes and hair, you could also make nativity characters from the same pattern which would also look very cute on the tree.

How to sew or knit a cute little vintage llama toy pdf

Llamas are such wonderful animals and have recently become very popular to keep for their coats which can be brushed to obtain the fibres to make luscious yarns.

They are such cute animals too- even though they can be a little naughty towards some humans (they can spit and chase!) they are very loveable and have many fans.

If you wish to make your own little llamas- you may keep llamas yourself and want to sell cute little toys to go along with the other merchandise- we have a couple of vintage patterns that you might like.

One is to sew, and one is to knit....

This is Holly llama who again dates from the 1940s and is made via a diagram sewing pattern (eg the pattern is charted on a grid and you would then transfer the shape onto squared paper). You can find her as a pdf download to purchase by clicking here

More vintage christmas reindeer jumper jacket knitting patterns

We have just sourced 2 more vintage christmas reindeer design jumper vintage knitting patterns. They are so popular for the festive season and as these are knitted in DK and aran then they don't take too much time to make!

You can choose your own colours- you can have green or red as a background and the reindeers as cream or fawn perhaps- or you could make them the other way around and have the background as cream or a pale colour with dark red, green or even classic black reindeer....

This one is made with DK and has a very handsome stag design

This one is made with a chunkier aran and has pretty snowflake designs too

Christmas reindeer jacket vintage knitting pattern pdf

This is a downloadable vintage knitting pattern for a mans Christmas reindeer design  zipper jacket. Its made with chunky yarn and so knits up fairly quickly and easily.

It was originally made in grey, cream and black, but we think it would be wonderful with a festive red or green background instead of the grey......you could also make the reindeer design in red or green too!

Its a lovely winter warmer jacket, and would make a great gift to open on christmas day. And why not knit a chunky easy pull on hat to match!

Vintage 1940s wartime Lux family dolls knitting patterns

This family of dolls is so cute and dates from the 1940s. It has a baby doll, a little girl, a little boy, a mummy , a soldier and a sailor. They are all knitted and also pretty simple to make and would make great period toys in a drama, or lovely 194os memorabilia as well as being funky toys to make for today. You could have a great time making them modern clothes too!

You can make them from odds and eds of yarns and leftovers form other projects- after all, they were designed to be made form that in the austere wartime years when yarn and new toys were hard to come by for lots of families.....they make great stocking fillers too.....

Vintage butterfly crochet patterns- for pins, embellishments, jewelry etc

This is one of our favourite vintage publications and we are pleased to let you know that we have now digitalised it and it is available on the website as an ebook.

Butterflies are such a pretty shape in design and colour, and there is so much that you can do with these beautiful little butterfly designs. The original book gives you designs for hats, gloves, light pulls, bedspreads, table decorations etc. All of which are lovely, especially if you after a vintage feel and look. However- we do think that these little beautys would look fantastic today as pins, brooches, hair decorations, in corsages ( in amongst a lot of crocheted flowers...), necklaces- bib necklaces would be fab- , and also to decorate accessories such as hats and bags, and clothes.....

This hat and gloves are so pretty and elegant- if the hat was made in whites and creams then it could look fantastic for a bride

We love this idea- lots of tiny wee butterflies made from lots of odds and ends of left over yarns and appliqued to a blouse. These could easily be made into pins or brooches- you could leave them nice and soft, and make lots of different colours and sizes from different thicknesses of yarns. You could also stiffen them with old fashioned starch or modern fabric stiffener- try also backing them with a stiff fabric with fusible interlining/bondaweb. You could use plain fabrics or lovely printed fabrics for a wonderful contrast.....very sellable!

Here is a selection of the butterflies in the ebooklet which have been appliqued onto a bedspread, net/organza curtains and a lampshade....if you ar elooking to make home decor items you could make lots of plain granny squares in plain colours and pop a pretty multicoloured crocheted butterfly on the top of each one.....

These little  chaps (or chapesses ) have been popped onto a doily for the table- but again could just as easily be popped onto bags or hats to give pretty embellishments

These are so pretty- they were originally meant to decorate the ends of light pulls but we think that they are so pretty that they should be found more places than that! How can you se these being used?....let us know your ideas.

Vintage Christmas angels to embroider or trace pdf

This set of wonderful retrolicious Christmas angels motifs can be used for embroidery as they were originally intended, as they can be traced from the pdf file that is downloaded.

This is a tracing pattern for a set of very sweet retro christmas angels- you can use them as motifs for embroidery by tracing onto fabric and then embroidering as they were originally intended, or you could just as easily trace the motifs onto cards and make very pretty christmas cards and/or tags. There are 2 sizes of angels - one a group of 5 together, and 5 individual ones. As it is a pdf file, then you can print them out to which ever size you wish to trace them.

They could also be embroidered onto card, and then hung onto the tree , or embroidered onto stiffened/fused fabric which is then cut to make angel shaped decorations for the Christmas tree.

They can really be used for whatever your imagination would like- they are very iconic motifs and could be useful for all tyes of items for the festive season,find them in our etsy shop as a pdf download here
