This is a really unusual find- this is a pullout from a 1968 magazine for a range of knitting patterns which are modelled by the stars of coronation street of the time! Theres Ena Sharples, Pat Phoenix as Elsie Tanner, Albert Tatlock, Bill Kenwright, Emily Nugent (or Bishop as she is now), Minnie Caldwell, Ken Barlows first wife (in a very fetching mod mini dress) , Len Fairclough and more.....
Take a look at the photos below to see them modelling the knitwear.
Ena Sharples without her hairnet!
here is Ena Sharples- without her trademark hair net!
This is Minnie Caldwell in a dressing gown that you can knit for yourself...
Ken Barlows first wife in actually quite a fab crochet mod mini dress!
The street siren of the time, Elsie Tanner (Pat Phoenix) in a rather nice knitted suit
Emily Bishop (nee Nugent) modelling a dress to make
And one of my favourite characters- Albert Tatlock.....
Its quite a good snapshot of fashions of the late 1960s as you can see that there was a mixture of fab, funky fashionable wear, and quite old fashioned homely wear too.......
The original is on ebay to purchase if anyone is interested- its a wonderful piece of Coronation Street memorabilia. ! Find it by clicking here
